I once went on a mission trip where people from other churches nationwide gathered to help a community and bring the Gospel message. On the event's last day, I conversed with an older gentleman who came to serve. We talked about what we had in common: our Faith. At the end of the conversation, he shared these words: “I will probably not see you on earth again, but I will see you in heaven.”
Beloved sisters, those words melted my heart. They communicated the love of Christ to me and gave me a new appreciation and love for the Body of Christ. It brought to mind a greeting we often use in my culture. We say “ A Dieu”. Today, in English, it is used as “farewell,” but it means “ to God.” It is more appropriate to use it in situations where you do not think you will see that person again because of circumstances. But how sweet it is with believers. We know we will all worship God in heaven with the multitudes of Angels.
1 Corinthians 12:12-14
For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit, we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. For the body is not one part, but many.
Ladies, we are fellow believers and sharers in our inheritance in Christ. We are one in the Spirit because of what Christ did for us on the cross. We have eternity together; we are bound together through our faith forever, for His Name's Sake. Then, let's walk and grow together in peace and unity. The body is not just made up of members who serve different roles but a family and a community.
A sister
A mother
A grandmother
A friend for life
A friend for a season
An acquaintance
A friendly face
You have a family of believers here at Grace. We have God first and foremost, and He blesses us with those around us. I pray that you have people with whom to walk your faith journey through the ups and downs of your daily life. I pray the Lord will provide you with one if you don't. Sometimes, we can feel lonely in a crowd of people. I pray that God will make a face known to you.
Ephesians 4: 1-6
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
Beloved Sisters in Christ, let us all go beyond Sunday morning pleasantries to a deep and rich relationship with God and one another.
